Magistral Memorial Jorge Szmetan 2017 is held in Sarmiento, Argentina from 17 till 27 April 2017.
The tournamet is named after Jorge Guillermo Szmetan (1950 - 2015), an International Master of Argentine Chess, national champion in 1976. He participated in three chess Olympics, representing Argentina - in1974 in Nice, in 1976 in Haifa and in 1978 in Buenos Aires.
