Grandmaster and Commonwealth Chess Champion Abhijeet Gupta is in the lead since the initial rounds of the tournament and is the most likely winner of the title. After outplaying top seed Martyn Kravtsiv of Ukraine in round 7 he retained a full point lead before his opponents. After two draws in rounds 8 and 9, he is now ahead with only half a point and a surprise winner is still possible.
