The Dibyendu Barua Chess Academy’s Life Insurance Corporation of India 2nd International Grandmasters Open starts today the 16th Mar 2015, at the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Kolkata, India.
The event is restricted to players with Elo Rating 2000 and above, will be a swiss open for 131 players, over 9 games. The field includes 27 Grandmasters, 25 International Masters, 4 Woman Grandmasters and 2 International Women Masters. The well known names from the events are Nigel Short, Dimitri Kokarev, Quesada Perez, Ortiz Suarez, Surya Ganguly, Lu Shanglei, Deep Sengupta, Lalithbabu etc.
The time control will be 90 minutes plus 30 seconds increment from move 1 for entire game. Everyday, games will start at 2.30 PM Indian Standard Time, with the 9th and final round is scheduled for 10.00 AM on the 24th March.
The games will be broadcast live on the internet, at the tournament’s website www.dbca.in/tournament everyday. Photographs, Videos, Results and Standings, apart from downloads of games played everyday, will be updated at the website.

The tournament carries a total Prize Fund of Rs.10,00,000, with the first prize of Rs.2,00,000.
