The 2nd Vera Menchik Memorial – Rapid Open is held in in Prague, Czech Republic on Sunday 10.06.2018. The event is organized for the
95th anniversary of the Chess club Dopravní podnik Prague in cooperation with Chess Academy Club.
The rapid chess tournament is played in the Public Transport Museum and is part of the the Czech Chess Federation Rapid Grand Prix 2017/2018 and of the ŠK Dopravní podnik Prague UniCredit Grand Prix 2017/2018.
The tournament consists of 9 rounds Swiss System, 12 minutes per game + 3 second per move and will be rated for ELO FIDE Rapid. The prize fund is CZK 35.500.
History: Vera Menchik (1906 – 1944) was a British-Czechoslovak-Russian chess player famous as the 1st Women´s World Champion.
