King Salman FIDE World Rapid Championships 2018

The King Salman FIDE World Rapid Championship - Open and Women will be held in St. Petersburg, Russia from 26-28 December. They are 15 round swiss tournaments with a prize fund of $150,000.
The time control is 15+10. In a case of a tie there will be a blitz playoff between the 1st two players.

The Open features top players as Magnus Carlsen, Nakamura Hikaru, Artemiev Vladislav, Fedoseev Vladimir, Aronian Levon, Mamedyarov Shakhriyar, Wang Hao, Karjakin Sergey, Nepomniachtchi Ian, Harikrishna Pentala etc.

In the Womens' competition take part Anna Muzychuk, Wenjun Ju , Tingjie Lei, Alexandra Kosteniuk, Kateryna Lagno, Nana Dzagnidze, Elisabeth Paehtz, Tatiana Kosintseva, Mariya Muzychuk, Dronavalli Harika etc.

Daniil Dubov with an undefeated score of 11/15, won the World Rapid Championship in St. Petersburg. Ju Wenjun with 10/12 retained her world rapid title and earned $40,000. Congratulations!

Moscow Championship 2017

The Moscow Championship 2017 is taking place in Moscow, Russia from 10th of March till 9th of April 2017.

On the 1st of April started the final of the championship. 60 chess players will take part in the finals of the Moscow Championship - 35 men and 25 women.

Among the popular participants are: Dmitry Gordievsky, Konstantin Savenkov, David Paravyan, Pavel Salman and Maria Fominykh, Alena Bogachkova, Elmira Mirzoyeva and Ekaterina Borisova.

Match days: November 28 - December 2, December 4-7.
December 3 - REST DAY.
Start of 1-8 rounds at 15.00, 9 tour will start at 13.00.

Time control: 90 minutes for 40 moves, then 30 minutes before the end of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from the 1st, each participant. Participants are not allowed to enter into negotiations on a draw to the 40th move inclusively.

The Tashir Group of Companies and the Russian Chess Federation are the organisers of the International TASHIR Chess Tournament in memory of Tigran Petrosian, which is to take place between November 3 and 11 at Novotel Moscow City. The tournament is held in memory of the 9th World Chess Champion, who would have celebrated his 85 birthday this year.

Tigran Petrosian

Tigran Petrosian (born June 17, 1929, Tbilisi - died August 13, 1984) played for the Soviet Union and is the 9th World Chess Champion from 1963 until 1969. Petrosian is an international chess master (1952), honoured master of sports of the USSR (1960), the four-time champion of the USSR (1959, 1961, 1969, 1975), the three-time champion of Moscow.

Doctor of Philosophy, chess theorist and journalist, editor of the Chess Moscow monthly magazine (1963-1966), founder and chief editor of the “64” monthly magazine (1968-1977), the nine-time winner of the World Chess Olympics as a member of Team USSR. Nicknamed Iron Tigran for his unsurpassed skills in defence.

November is one of the most exciting months for chess fans - the World championship will be held between 7th and 27th November in Sochi, Russia, and we will see the current champion Magnus Carlsen meet the candidate (and 5 times former world champion) Viswanathan Anand.

Carlsen currently holds the titles of World champion in classic, rapid and blitz chess.

Schedule

The Match is a culmination of the two-year FIDE cycle and is played every two years between the incumbent Champion and the winner of the Candidates tournament. The Match is played over a maximum of twelve games and the winner of the match shall be the first player to score 6.5 points or more. If the scores are level after 12 games, 4 tie-break are played.

The first game of the Match will start on November 8 at 3PM Moscow time.
