The opening ceremony of this year's Candidates Tournament took place today, March 12, in Khanty-Mansiysk, and was attended by Natalia Komarova, Ukra Governor and Vice-President of Russian Chess Federation, and Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, FIDE President.

Tomorrow is the first round of the Tournament, 15:00 local time (GMT + 6 hours).

Information

The participants will play a double round robin tournament (14 rounds). The time control is 120 minutes for the first 40 moves, 60 minutes for the next 20 moves and then 15 minutes for the rest of the game plus an additional 30 seconds per move starting from move 61.
